How I choose
Last updated [DATE]
Every guide starts from the same question: will this work in your home? That comes down to four things, and every guide covers them.
- Running cost. Power use and hours, worked out against your own electricity tariff.
- Power supply. Whether it plugs into a normal socket or needs its own circuit from the fuse box, fitted by an electrician.
- Where it goes. Where it can go, what it sits on, and the space it needs to breathe.
- Upkeep. Water care, filters and the parts that wear.
The labels on every pick
Every pick is checked against the maker's specifications and current prices. The label tells you whether I have also tried it or seen it:
Tried in personI have used it myself, at a spa, gym, showroom or at home. If I own one, the label says so.
Seen in personI have looked at it up close, but not used it.
Specs and researchI haven't tried or seen it yet, so the pick is based on its specifications, price and the practical points in each guide.
"Seen in person" means up close and properly looked over: at a showroom, a trade event or someone's home, not a glance in a shop window.
What I won't do
- Say I have tested or reviewed something I haven't.
- Let commission or a brand deal change a pick. How this site makes money.
- Make health claims. These guides are about the equipment: what it costs, what it needs and whether it suits your home.
When I get something wrong
Prices change and products get updated. If something on a page is out of date or wrong, email hello@sweatchillrepeat.com and I will check it and correct it.
